Malik reported,

He heard Uthman bin Affan say in a sermon, "Do not require a slave woman who has no trade to earn money, for if you require that of her, she will earn it with her body. And do not require a young child to earn money, for if he finds nothing, he will steal. Keep yourselves chaste, since Allah has granted you the means of chastity, and confine yourselves to whatever food is lawful and wholesome."

و حدثني مالك

عن عمه أبي سهيل بن مالك عن أبيه

أنه سمع عثمان بن عفان وهو يخطب وهو يقول لا تكلفوا الأمة غير ذات الصنعة الكسب فإنكم متى كلفتموها ذلك كسبت بفرجها ولا تكلفوا الصغير الكسب فإنه إذا لم يجد سرق وعفوا إذ أعفكم الله وعليكم من المطاعم بما طاب منها
