Umar bin Khattab came out to them and said, "I detected the smell of drink on so-and-so, and he claims it was thickened grape juice. I am going to ask about what he drank, and if it is intoxicating I will flog him." Then Umar flogged him with the full prescribed punishment.
و حدثني عن مالك عن ابن شهاب
أن عمر بن الخطاب خرج عليهم فقال إني وجدت من فلان ريح شراب فزعم أنه شراب الطلاء وأنا سائل عما شرب فإن كان يسكر جلدته فجلده عمر الحد تاما
