Two men traded insults during the time of Umar bin Khattab, and one of them said to the other, "By Allah, my father was no fornicator and my mother was no fornicatress."Umar bin Khattab consulted others about the matter. One person said, "He merely praised his father and mother."Others said, "He could have praised his father and mother in some other way. We think you should flog him with the prescribed punishment."So Umar flogged him with the prescribed punishment of eighty lashes.
حدثني مالك عن أبي الرجال محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن حارثة بن النعمان الأنصاري ثم من بني النجار
أن رجلين استبا في زمان عمر بن الخطاب فقال أحدهما للآخر والله ما أبي بزان ولا أمي بزانية فاستشار في ذلك عمر بن الخطاب فقال قائل مدح أباه وأمه وقال آخرون قد كان لأبيه وأمه مدح غير هذا نرى أن تجلده الحد فجلده عمر الحد ثمانين
