Umar bin Abdul-Aziz ruled concerning a slave whose freedom had been deferred until his master's death that, if he wounds someone, his master may hand over to the wounded man the share of him that he owns. The wounded man then has him serve him, offsetting the injury against the blood money owed for that wound. If he works off the amount before his master dies, he returns to his master.
أن عمر بن عبد العزيز قضى في المدبر إذا جرح أن لسيده أن يسلم ما يملك منه إلى المجروح فيخدمه المجروح ويقاصه بجراحه من دية جرحه فإن أدى قبل أن يهلك سيده رجع إلى سيده.
