Concerning a man who died leaving three sons, and who had also left behind freed slaves whom he himself had manumitted. Then two of his sons died, each leaving children behind. Saeed bin Musayab said, "The remaining one of the three sons inherits the right of patronage over the freed slaves. Then when he too dies, his own children and the children of his brothers share equally in that right of patronage over the freed slaves."
