Malik reported,

Saeed bin Musayab was asked about the right of pre-emption, whether there was any sunnah concerning it.He replied, "Yes. Pre-emption applies to houses and lands, and it holds only between partners."

قال مالك، إنه بلغه

أن سعيد بن المسيب سئل عن الشفعة: هل فيها من سنة؟ فقال: نعم، الشفعة في الدور والأرضين، ولا تكون إلا بين الشركاء.
