There shall be no hoarding in our market. Men are not to set out with surplus gold in their hands toward provisions that Allah has sent down in our midst, cornering them and keeping them from us. But whoever brings goods, hauling them at the cost of his own strength in winter and in summer, that man is Umar's guest. Let him sell as Allah wills and let him withhold as Allah wills.
حدثني يحيى عن مالك، أنه بلغه: أن
لا حكرة في سوقنا. لا يعمد رجال بأيديهم فضول من أذهاب إلى رزق من رزق الله نزل بساحتنا، فيتنكرونه علينا، وليكن أيما جالب جلب على عمود كبده في الشتاء، والصيف؛ فذلك ضيف عمر، فليبع كيف شاء الله، وليمسك كيف شاء الله.
