Malik reported,

Salim bin Abdullah and Sulayman bin Yasar both used to say concerning a woman whose husband has died that if she fears for her eyesight because of inflammation or some ailment that has afflicted her, she may apply kohl and treat herself with medicine, or anoint herself with oil, even if it contains perfume.

عن مالك، أنه بلغه

عن سالم بن عبد الله، وسليمان بن يسار: أنهما كانا يقولان في المرأة المتوفى عنها زوجها: إنها إذا خشيت على بصرها من رمد، أو شكو أصابها: إنها تكتحل، وتتداوى بدواء، أو تحتل؛ وإن كان فيه طيب.
