Malik reported,

It reached him that Umar bin Khattab, Abdullah bin Umar, Abdullah bin Masud, Salim bin Abdullah, Qasim bin Muhammad, Ibn Shihab, and Sulayman bin Yasar all used to say that if a man swears to divorce a woman before he marries her, and then goes ahead and does it, that divorce binds him once he marries her.

عن مالك

أنه بلغه: أن عمر بن الخطاب، وعبد الله بن عمر، وعبد الله بن مسعود، وسالم بن عبد الله، والقاسم بن محمد، وابن شهاب، وسليمان بن يسار كانوا يقولون: إذا حلف الرجل بطلاق المرأة قبل أن ينكحها، ثم أثم: إن ذلك لازم له إذا نكحها.
