Abdul-Rahman bin Awf's wife asked him to divorce her, and he said, "When you have menstruated and then become pure, let me know."She did not menstruate until Abdul-Rahman bin Awf fell ill, and when she became pure she informed him, so he pronounced the final divorce, or a single pronouncement which was the only one remaining to him over her. Abdul-Rahman bin Awf was ill at that time, and Uthman bin Affan ruled that she inherited from him even after her waiting period had ended.
و حدثني عن مالك أنه
أن امرأة عبد الرحمن بن عوف سألته أن يطلقها فقال إذا حضت ثم طهرت فآذنيني فلم تحض حتى مرض عبد الرحمن بن عوف فلما طهرت آذنته فطلقها البتة أو تطليقة لم يكن بقي له عليها من الطلاق غيرها وعبد الرحمن بن عوف يومئذ مريض فورثها عثمان بن عفان منه بعد انقضاء عدتها
