He was sitting with Zayd bin Thabit when Muhammad bin Abu Ateeq came to him with tears in his eyes.Zayd asked him, "What is the matter with you?"He replied, "I gave my wife control over her own affair, and she separated from me."Zayd asked, "What made you do that?"He said, "Divine decree."Zayd told him, "Take her back if you wish, for it counts as only one, and you have the greater right to her."
حدثني يحيى عن مالك عن سعيد بن سليمان بن زيد بن ثابت
أنه كان جالسا عند زيد بن ثابت فأتاه محمد بن أبي عتيق وعيناه تدمعان فقال له زيد ما شأنك فقال ملكت امرأتي أمرها ففارقتني فقال له زيد ما حملك على ذلك قال القدر فقال زيد ارتجعها إن شئت فإنما هي واحدة وأنت أملك بها
