He asked Ibn Shihab about a man who was married to an owned slave woman and then purchased her, having already pronounced one divorce upon her.Ibn Shihab replied, "She is lawful for him by right of ownership, so long as he has not made her divorce final. But if he has made her divorce final, she is not lawful for him by right of ownership until she marries another husband."

أنه سأل ابن شهاب عن رجل كانت تحته أمة مملوكة فاشتراها وقد كان طلقها واحدة فقال تحل له بملك يمينه ما لم يبت طلاقها فإن بت طلاقها فلا تحل له بملك يمينه حتى تنكح زوجا غيره
