Zayd bin Thabit was asked about a man who married a woman and then parted from her before consummating the marriage, whether her mother would then be lawful for him.Zayd bin Thabit replied, "No. The prohibition of the mother is absolute, with no condition attached to it. The condition applies only to stepdaughters."
