Nafi reported,

The daughter of Ubaydullah bin Umar, whose mother was the daughter of Zayd bin Khattab, was married to a son of Abdullah bin Umar. He died before consummating the marriage and without having specified a dower for her. Her mother demanded her dower, but Abdullah bin Umar said, "She has no dower. Had she been entitled to a dower, we would not have withheld it, nor would we have wronged her."Her mother refused to accept this, so they appointed Zayd bin Thabit to judge between them, and he ruled that she was not entitled to a dower but was entitled to the inheritance.

أن ابنة عبيد الله بن عمر وأمها بنت زيد بن الخطاب كانت تحت ابن لعبد الله بن عمر فمات ولم يدخل بها ولم يسم لها صداقا فابتغت أمها صداقها فقال عبد الله بن عمر ليس لها صداق ولو كان لها صداق لم نمسكه ولم نظلمها فأبت أمها أن تقبل ذلك فجعلوا بينهم زيد بن ثابت فقضى أن لا صداق لها ولها الميراث
