A man reported,

Umar bin Khattab wrote to the commander of an army he had dispatched, "It has reached me that some of your men pursue a non-Arab fighter until, when he has climbed up into the mountain and put himself beyond reach, one of them calls out, 'Matras!' meaning, 'Do not be afraid.' Then, when he catches up with him, he kills him. By Him in whose hand my soul is, if I learn of a single man who has done this, I will strike off his neck."
