Zayd bin Aslam reported,

Abu Ubayda bin Jarra wrote to Umar bin Khattab telling him of the massed forces of the Romans and what he feared from them. Umar bin Khattab wrote back to him,"Whatever hardship befalls a believing servant, Allah grants relief after it, and one hardship can never overcome two eases. Allah, exalted is He, says in His Book, 'You who believe, be patient, be steadfast, stand firm in devotion, and be mindful of Allah, so that you may prosper' [Al Imran 3:200]."

عن زيد بن أسلم قال

كتب أبو عبيدة بن الجراح إلى عمر بن الخطاب يذكر له جموعا من الروم وما يتخوف منهم فكتب إليه عمر بن الخطاب أما بعد فإنه مهما ينزل بعبد مؤمن من منزل شدة يجعل الله بعده فرجا وإنه لن يغلب عسر يسرين وأن الله تعالى يقول في كتابه {يا أيها الذين آمنوا اصبروا وصابروا ورابطوا واتقوا الله لعلكم تفلحون}
