I saw us with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Hudaybiyah when rain fell on us, but it did not even wet the soles of our sandals. Then the caller of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ announced, "Pray in your dwellings."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا إسمعيل بن إبراهيم عن خالد الحذاء عن أبي المليح قال خرجت في ليلة مطيرة فلما رجعت استفتحت فقال أبي من هذا قال
لقد رأيتنا مع رسول الله ﷺ يوم الحديبية وأصابتنا سماء لم تبل أسافل نعالنا فنادى منادي رسول الله ﷺ صلوا في رحالكم
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Prayer, chapter on Friday prayer on a rainy day, hadith no. 1059, from the hadith of Khalid through him, and it has other routes in Abu Dawud, hadith no. 1057, and elsewhere. Ibn Khuzayma, Ibn Hibban, Hakim, Dhahabi, and others graded it sahih.
