When the verse "So glorify the name of your Lord, the Most Great" [Waqiah 56:74] was revealed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to us, "Place this in your bowing." Then when the verse "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High" [Ala 87:1] was revealed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to us, "Place this in your prostration."
حدثنا عمرو بن رافع البجلي حدثنا عبد الله بن المبارك عن موسى بن أيوب الغافقي قال سمعت عمي إياس بن عامر يقول سمعت
لما نزلت {فسبح باسم ربك العظيم} قال لنا رسول الله ﷺ اجعلوها في ركوعكم فلما نزلت {سبح اسم ربك الأعلى} قال لنا رسول الله ﷺ اجعلوها في سجودكم
[Its chain of transmission is sahih] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Prayer, Chapter on What a Man Says in His Ruku and Sujud, hadith no. 869, from the hadith of Ibn Mubarak with the same wording. Ibn Hibban and Hakim graded it sahih, and Dhahabi agreed with him in one place, 2/477.
