We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a military expedition when he said, "Pray early on a cloudy day, for whoever misses the afternoon prayer, his deeds are rendered worthless."
Sahih. Ahmad reported it, 5/361, from Waki from Uzai with this wording, and the correct version is from his uncle Abu Muhallab, as found in Sahih Ibn Hibban (Mawarid), no. 256 and elsewhere, with the wording, "... for whoever abandons prayer has disbelieved." It has corroborating narrations in Bukhari and elsewhere.
