The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would go to the privy and relieve himself, then come out and eat bread and meat with us and recite the Quran. Nothing prevented him, and sometimes he said nothing held him back from the Quran except a state of major ritual impurity.

كان رسول الله ﷺ يأتي الخلاء فيقضي الحاجة ثم يخرج فيأكل معنا الخبز واللحم ويقرأ القرآن ولا يحجبه وربما قال لا يحجزه عن القرآن شيء إلا الجنابة
Its chain of transmission is hasan.Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Purification, chapter on a person in a state of major ritual impurity reciting the Quran, hadith no. 229. Tirmidhi narrated it as hadith no. 146 and said it is hasan sahih. Ibn Khuzayma, Ibn Hibban, Hakim, Dhahabi, and others graded it sahih.
