When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to eat while in a state of major ritual impurity, he would perform ablution.
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا ابن علية وغندر ووكيع عن شعبة عن الحكم عن إبراهيم عن الأسود
كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا أراد أن يأكل وهو جنب توضأ
Recorded by Muslim in the Book of Menstruation, Chapter on the permissibility of a person in a state of major impurity sleeping and the recommendation of performing wudu for that, etc., hadith no. 305, from Ibn Abu Shayba, with this chain.
