The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed ablution and wiped over his socks and sandals.
حدثنا علي بن محمد حدثنا وكيع حدثنا سفيان عن أبي قيس الأودي عن الهزيل بن شرحبيل
أن رسول الله ﷺ توضأ ومسح على الجوربين والنعلين
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Abu Dawud recorded it in the Book of Purification, Chapter on Wiping over Socks, no. 159, from the hadith of Waki, with this chain, and Tirmidhi graded it sahih, no. 99.I say, Sufyan Thawri's situation regarding tadlis was already mentioned, no. 162, and I did not find an explicit statement that he heard it directly. The hadith has many corroborating narrations, but they are daif, though the consensus of the companions renders it unnecessary.
