Jareer bin Abdullah urinated, then performed ablution and wiped over his leather socks.Someone asked him, "Do you do this?"He replied, "What should prevent me, when I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do it?"Ibrahim said, "They used to find Jareer's hadith pleasing because his acceptance of Islam came after the revelation of Surah al-Maidah."
حدثنا علي بن محمد حدثنا وكيع عن الأعمش عن إبراهيم
بال جرير بن عبد الله ثم توضأ ومسح على خفيه فقيل له أتفعل هذا قال وما يمنعني وقد رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يفعله قال إبراهيم كان يعجبهم حديث جرير لأن إسلامه كان بعد نزول المائدة
Bukhari narrated it, Prayer, chapter titled "Prayer while wearing khuffs," hadith no. 387, and Muslim, Purification, chapter titled "Wiping over the khuffs," hadith no. 272, from the hadith of Amash through the same route.
