The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Knowledge is of three kinds, and whatever lies beyond them is extra: a clear verse, an established sunnah, or a just obligation."
حدثنا محمد بن العلاء الهمداني قال حدثني رشدين بن سعد وجعفر بن عون عن ابن أنعم هو الإفريقي عن عبد الرحمن بن رافع
قال رسول الله ﷺ العلم ثلاثة فما وراء ذلك فهو فضل آية محكمة أو سنة قائمة أو فريضة عادلة
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Abu Dawud narrated it in the chapters on inheritance law, in the chapter on the teaching of inheritance law. Hadith: 2880, from the hadith of Abdul-Rahman Afriqi, and he is daif, like his teacher (Taqrib). Dhahabi graded the hadith daif in Talkhis Mustadrak, 4/332, and it has daif corroborating narrations.
