The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever is given a legal verdict that is not sound, the sin falls only upon the one who issued it."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا عبد الله بن يزيد عن سعيد بن أبي أيوب حدثني أبو هانئ حميد بن هانئ الخولاني عن أبي عثمان مسلم بن يسار
قال رسول الله ﷺ من أفتي بفتيا غير ثبت فإنما إثمه على من أفتاه
[Its chain of transmission is hasan] Abu Dawud transported it in the Book of Knowledge, Chapter on Caution in Giving Legal Rulings, no. 3657, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Yazid, and Hakim graded it sahih, as did Dhahabi.
