Abu Saeed Khudri reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "As for the people of the Fire who truly belong to it, they will neither die in it nor live. But there are people whom the Fire will touch on account of their sins, or their wrongdoings, and it will cause them to die a death. Then, when they have become charcoal, permission will be granted for intercession on their behalf. They will be brought forth in groups upon groups, and they will be scattered upon the rivers of Paradise. It will then be said, 'People of Paradise, pour water over them.' So they will sprout as a seed sprouts in the silt left by a flood."A man from the gathering said, "It is as though the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had once lived in the desert."

عن أبي سعيد قال

قال رسول الله ﷺ أما أهل النار الذين هم أهلها فلا يموتون فيها ولا يحيون ولكن ناس أصابتهم نار بذنوبهم أو بخطاياهم فأماتتهم إماتة حتى إذا كانوا فحما أذن لهم في الشفاعة فجيء بهم ضبائر ضبائر فبثوا على أنهار الجنة فقيل يا أهل الجنة أفيضوا عليهم فينبتون نبات الحبة تكون في حميل السيل قال فقال رجل من القوم كأن رسول الله ﷺ قد كان في البادية
