The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Abu Hurayrah, be mindful of what is forbidden, and you will be the most devoted of people in worship. Be content with what you have, and you will be the most grateful of people. Love for others what you love for yourself, and you will be a true believer. Treat your neighbor well, and you will be a true Muslim. Laugh little, for excessive laughter deadens the heart."
حدثنا علي بن محمد حدثنا أبو معاوية عن أبي رجاء عن برد بن سنان عن مكحول عن واثلة بن الأسقع
قال رسول الله ﷺ يا أبا هريرة كن ورعا تكن أعبد الناس وكن قنعا تكن أشكر الناس وأحب للناس ما تحب لنفسك تكن مؤمنا وأحسن جوار من جاورك تكن مسلما وأقل الضحك فإن كثرة الضحك تميت القلب
Its isnad is daif. Abu Naeem narrated it in Hilyah (10/365) from the hadith of Abu Muawiya, in abridged form, and Busiri graded it hasan. Abu Raja Muhriz bin Abdullah Jazari and Makhul, mentioned previously under no. 481, are both known for tadlis and narrated using "an", and there is another defect in the hadith. The hadith has daif corroborating narrations in Tirmidhi, no. 2305, and Ibn Majah, no. 4193, among others.
