The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Be moderate and aim for what is right, for none of you will be saved by his deeds."They asked, "Not even you, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "Not even me, unless Allah envelops me in mercy and favor from Him."
حدثنا عبد الله بن عامر بن زرارة وإسمعيل بن موسى قالا حدثنا شريك بن عبد الله عن الأعمش عن أبي صالح
قال رسول الله ﷺ قاربوا وسددوا فإنه ليس أحد منكم بمنجيه عمله قالوا ولا أنت يا رسول الله قال ولا أنا إلا أن يتغمدني الله برحمة منه وفضل
Muslim narrated it in Sifat al-Munafiqin, chapter "No One Will Enter Paradise by His Deeds Alone, but by the Mercy of Allah the Exalted," hadith 76/2816, from the hadith of Amash by this route. Busiri graded it hasan because of Sharik, though he was not alone in narrating it, and the hadith has many corroborating witnesses.
