The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah, glorified is He, says, 'Pride is My cloak and greatness is My garment. Whoever contends with Me over either of them, I will cast him into Hell.'"
حدثنا هناد بن السري حدثنا أبو الأحوص عن عطاء بن السائب عن الأغر أبي مسلم
قال رسول الله ﷺ يقول الله سبحانه الكبرياء ردائي والعظمة إزاري من نازعني واحدا منهما ألقيته في جهنم
Sourcing, its isnad is sahih. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Clothing, Chapter on What Has Been Said About Pride, hadith no. 4090, from Hannad with this wording. Diya included it in Al-Mukhtarah. The hadith has other routes with Humaydi, hadith no. 1157, and others (and Ataa narrated it before his memory became mixed up), and it has corroborating narrations with Muslim and others.
