The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent us out as a force of three hundred men, carrying our provisions on our shoulders. Our supplies ran out until each man among us was reduced to a single date.Someone asked, "Abu Abdullah, what use is a single date to a man?"He replied, "We truly felt its loss when it was gone. Then we reached the sea and came upon a whale that the sea had cast ashore, and we ate from it for eighteen days."
