He traced it back to the Prophet, who said, "Time will draw near, knowledge will diminish, miserliness will be cast into hearts, tribulations will appear, and harj will become widespread."They asked, "Messenger of Allah, what is harj?"He replied, "Killing."

يرفعه قال يتقارب الزمان وينقص العلم ويلقى الشح وتظهر الفتن ويكثر الهرج قالوا يا رسول الله وما الهرج قال القتل
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on Tribulations, section on the emergence of tribulations, no. 7061, from the hadith of Abdul-Ala with this same chain, and Muslim narrated it in the chapter on Knowledge, section on the disappearance of knowledge and the spread of ignorance and tribulations at the end of time, no. 12/2672, from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba with this same chain.
