The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah grants the wrongdoer respite, but when He seizes him, He does not let him escape." Then he recited, "Such is the seizure of your Lord when He seizes the towns while they are doing wrong" [Hud 11:102].
حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله بن نمير وعلي بن محمد قالا حدثنا أبو معاوية عن بريد بن عبد الله بن أبي بردة عن أبي بردة
قال رسول الله ﷺ إن الله يملي للظالم فإذا أخذه لم يفلته ثم قرأ {وكذلك أخذ ربك إذا أخذ القرى وهي ظالمة}
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Tafsir, chapter "His statement 'And thus is the seizure of your Lord when He seizes the towns'..." etc., hadith 4686, from the hadith of Abu Muawiya. And Muslim narrated it in the Book of Manners, chapter on the prohibition of oppression, hadith 2583, from Ibn Numayr, through the same chain.
