The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It is not fitting for a believer to humiliate himself."They asked, "How does he humiliate himself?"He replied, "By exposing himself to trials he cannot bear."
حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا عمرو بن عاصم حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن علي بن زيد عن الحسن عن جندب
قال رسول الله ﷺ لا ينبغي للمؤمن أن يذل نفسه قالوا وكيف يذل نفسه قال يتعرض من البلاء لما لا يطيقه
[Its chain is daif] Tirmidhi transmitted it, in the Book of Tribulations, chapter on not exposing oneself to trials one cannot bear, hadith 2254, from Ibn Bashar with this wording, and he said, hasan gharib. See also hadith 71 and 116 for its two defects.
