I asked, "How do you act regarding this verse?"He said, "Which verse?"I said, "You who believe, take care of your own souls. If you are rightly guided, no one who goes astray can harm you" [Maidah 5:105].He said, "You have asked someone well-informed about it. I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about it, and he said, 'Rather, command what is right and forbid what is wrong, until you see stinginess being obeyed, desires being followed, worldly life being preferred, and every person of opinion being impressed with his own opinion, and you see a matter you have no power to handle. Then concern yourself with your own soul. For ahead of you lie days of patience. Patience during them will be like grasping a hot coal. The one who acts righteously during them will have the reward of fifty men who act as he does.'"

قلت كيف تصنع في هذه الآية قال أية آية قلت {يا أيها الذين آمنوا عليكم أنفسكم لا يضركم من ضل إذا اهتديتم} قال سألت عنها خبيرا سألت عنها رسول الله ﷺ فقال بل ائتمروا بالمعروف وتناهوا عن المنكر حتى إذا رأيت شحا مطاعا وهوى متبعا ودنيا مؤثرة وإعجاب كل ذي رأي برأيه ورأيت أمرا لا يدان لك به فعليك خويصة نفسك فإن من ورائكم أيام الصبر الصبر فيهن على مثل قبض على الجمر للعامل فيهن مثل أجر خمسين رجلا يعملون بمثل عمله
[Its chain is hasan] Abu Dawud narrated it in Malahim, chapter, The Command and the Prohibition, no. 4341, from the hadith of Utbah, with the same wording, but it does not contain "my uncle told me," rather it contains "Amr bin Jariyah told me." Tirmidhi narrated it, no. 3058, and said it is hasan gharib. Ibn Hibban, Hakim (4/322), and Dhahabi graded it sahih.
