The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Islam began as something strange, and it will return to being strange, so blessed are the strangers."Someone asked, "Who are the strangers?"He replied, "Those who break away from their tribes."
حدثنا سفيان بن وكيع حدثنا حفص بن غياث عن الأعمش عن أبي إسحق عن أبي الأحوص
قال رسول الله ﷺ إن الإسلام بدأ غريبا وسيعود غريبا فطوبى للغرباء قال قيل ومن الغرباء قال النزاع من القبائل
[Sahih] Narrated by Tirmidhi, in the Book of Faith, chapter on what has been said that Islam began as something strange and will return to being something strange, hadith no. 2629, from the hadith of Hafs, with this wording, and he said, hasan gharib sahih. It was also narrated by Abu Khalid Sulayman bin Hayan, from Amash, with this wording, and Baghawi graded it sahih in Sharh al-Sunnah, 1/118. I did not find an explicit statement of direct hearing between Amash and Abu Ishaq, but the preceding hadith and the one before it are sufficient in its place.
