He heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "A dream rests on the foot of a bird as long as it remains uninterpreted, but once it is interpreted, it comes to pass."He also said, "A dream is one of forty-six parts of prophethood."And he said, "I think he said, 'One should only relate it to a loving friend or a person of sound judgment.'"
حدثنا أبو بكر حدثنا هشيم عن يعلى بن عطاء عن وكيع بن عدس العقيلي
أنه سمع النبي ﷺ يقول الرؤيا على رجل طائر ما لم تعبر فإذا عبرت وقعت قال والرؤيا جزء من ستة وأربعين جزءا من النبوة قال وأحسبه قال لا يقصها إلا على واد أو ذي رأي
[Hasan] Reported by Abu Dawud, Manners, chapter on dreams, no. 5020, from the hadith of Hushaym, with this wording, in Musannaf, 11/50, no. 10498, and Tirmidhi said, no. 2278, 2279, hasan sahih, and it is found there. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 1795, 1797, as did Hakim, 4/390, and Dhahabi, and Ibn Daqiq Eid, and Hafiz graded it hasan in Fath al-Bari, 2/432.
