He used to spend the night at the door of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he would hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying during the night, "Glory be to Allah, Lord of the worlds," for a long while, then saying, "Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا معاوية بن هشام أنبأنا شيبان عن يحيى عن أبي سلمة أن
أنه كان يبيت عند باب رسول الله ﷺ وكان يسمع رسول الله ﷺ يقول من الليل سبحان الله رب العالمين الهوي ثم يقول سبحان الله وبحمده
[Sahih] Reported by Abu Dawud, Tatawwu, chapter on the time when the Prophet ﷺ would rise at night, no. 1320, from the hadith of Yahya bin Abu Kathir, through this route. Tirmidhi said, no. 3416, hasan sahih. Its basis is found in Sahih Muslim, no. 489, from the hadith of Uzai, from Yahya, through this route.
