The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Name yourselves with my name, but do not take my kunya as your own."
حدثنا أبو بكر حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن أبي سفيان
قال رسول الله ﷺ تسموا باسمي ولا تكنوا بكنيتي
[Sahih] Ahmad narrated it, 3/313, 314, from Abu Muawiya, who said, Amash narrated it to us, with the same wording, and it is in al-Musannaf, 8/483, and see the preceding hadith, and Tirmidhi has part of it, no. 2250, and it has a corroborating witness in Bukhari, no. 3114, and Muslim, no. 2133, and others (Bukhari, nos. 3115, 3114, 6187, 3538, 6196, and Muslim, no. 2134), from the hadith of Salim bin Abu Jaad, from Jabir, with the same wording.
