حدثنا أبو بكر حدثنا هاشم بن القاسم حدثنا أبو عقيل حدثنا مجالد بن سعيد عن الشعبي عن مسروق قال لقيت
من أنت فقلت مسروق بن الأجدع فقال عمر سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول الأجدع شيطان
[Its chain is daif] Abu Dawud transmitted it in the Book of Manners, the chapter on changing an ugly name, hadith 4957, from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, with this wording. It is also found in al-Musannaf, 8/477. See hadith 11 regarding the status of Mujalid.
