When the Prophet ﷺ met a man and spoke with him, he would not turn his face away until the other man turned away first. When he shook hands with him, he would not withdraw his hand until the other withdrew his first. And he was never seen pushing his knees forward beyond those of anyone sitting with him.
حدثنا علي بن محمد حدثنا وكيع عن أبي يحيى الطويل رجل من أهل الكوفة عن زيد العمي
كان النبي ﷺ إذا لقي الرجل فكلمه لم يصرف وجهه عنه حتى يكون هو الذي ينصرف وإذا صافحه لم ينزع يده من يده حتى يكون هو الذي ينزعها ولم ير متقدما بركبتيه جليسا له قط

[Its chain of transmission is daif] Tirmidhi narrated it in the chapters on the description of the Day of Resurrection [Chapter on his humility with his companion... , no. 2490] from the hadith of Abu Yahya Imran bin Zayd Taghlabi Tawil, and he is lenient as noted in al-Taqrib. Zayd's status was mentioned previously at no. 2703. Part of the hadith has a daif corroborating narration in Abu Dawud, no. 4794.
