One of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ bathed from a large bowl. Then the Prophet ﷺ came to bathe or perform ablution from it.She said, "Messenger of Allah, I was in a state of major impurity."He replied, "Water does not become impure."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا أبو الأحوص عن سماك بن حرب عن عكرمة
اغتسل بعض أزواج النبي ﷺ في جفنة فجاء النبي ﷺ ليغتسل أو يتوضأ فقالت يا رسول الله إني كنت جنبا قال الماء لا يجنب
[Its chain is daif] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Purification, chapter "Water Cannot Become Impure (Junub)," hadith 68, from Abu Ahwas with this wording, and Tirmidhi graded it sahih, hadith 65, but the chain of Simak from Ikrima is daif, as noted regarding the hadith of Abu Ahwas that came earlier, hadith 171. Part of the hadith has supporting evidence in Muslim, hadith 323, and elsewhere.
