A letter from the Prophet ﷺ reached us stating that we were not to make use of anything from a dead animal, neither its hide nor its sinews.
[Hasan]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Clothing, in the chapter on those who said the hide of a dead animal should not be used, no. 4127, from the hadith of Shubah with the same wording. Tirmidhi graded it hasan (no. 1729), as did Bayhaqi (18/1), and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih. Hakam explicitly stated that he heard it directly.See Nail Maqsud for the response to the criticism raised against the hadith of Ibn Ukaym, may Allah have mercy on him.
