The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever wears a garment of vanity in this world, Allah will clothe him in a garment of humiliation on the Day of Resurrection."
حدثنا محمد بن عبادة ومحمد بن عبد الملك الواسطيان قالا حدثنا يزيد بن هارون أنبأنا شريك عن عثمان بن أبي زرعة عن مهاجر
قال رسول الله ﷺ من لبس ثوب شهرة ألبسه الله يوم القيامة ثوب مذلة
[Hasan]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Clothing, chapter on wearing garments of notoriety, hadith no. 4029, from the hadith of Sharik through this route, and Munziri graded it hasan in Targheeb, 3/116. Abu Hatim graded its stopped version (mawquf) sahih. I say, Sharik was corroborated by Abu Awana, see the following hadith.
