The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Eat, drink, give in charity, and wear clothing, so long as it is not mixed with extravagance or arrogance."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا يزيد بن هارون أنبأنا همام عن قتادة
قال رسول الله ﷺ كلوا واشربوا وتصدقوا والبسوا ما لم يخالطه إسراف أو مخيلة
Its chain of transmission is daif. It was reported by Nasai in the Book of Zakat, chapter on Pride in Charity, hadith no. 2560, from the hadith of Yazid, in abridged form. It is also found in Musannaf 8/217, hadith no. 4929. Bukhari mentioned it in passing at the beginning of the Book of Clothing. Qatada has already been discussed, no. 175. It has supporting narrations transmitted as the statements of companions, found in Taghliq Taliq and elsewhere.
