Anas bin Malik informed them that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted Zubayr bin Awwam and Abdul-Rahman bin Awf permission to wear silk shirts due to an itching ailment they suffered from.

Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Jihad, chapter on silk in war, no. 2919, from the hadith of Saeed, through him. Muslim narrated it in the Book of Clothing and Adornment, chapter on the permissibility of a man wearing silk if he has a skin condition or similar, no. 2076, from Ibn Abu Shayba, through him.
