The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked, "How far may a woman trail the hem of her garment?"He replied, "A handspan."She said, "Then her foot would be exposed."He said, "A cubit, and no more than that."
حدثنا أبو بكر حدثنا المعتمر بن سليمان عن عبيد الله بن عمر عن نافع عن سليمان بن يسار
سئل رسول الله ﷺ كم تجر المرأة من ذيلها قال شبرا قلت إذا ينكشف عنها قال ذراع لا تزيد عليه
[Its chain is sahih] Abu Dawud narrated it in "Clothing," in the chapter on the length of the train of a garment, hadith no. 4118, from the hadith of Ubaydullah as transmitted here.
