I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Hold fast to senna and sanut, for in them is a cure for every disease except sam."It was asked, "Messenger of Allah, what is sam?"He replied, "Death."Amr said that Ibn Ubayy Ablah said, "Sanut is dill."Others said, "Rather, it is the honey found in skins of clarified butter," and this is the meaning in the poet's verse,They are like butter mixed with sanut, no deceit is among them, And they protect their neighbor from being humiliated.
Sourcing, hasan. Hakim reported it: 4/201, from the hadith of Amr bin Bakr with this chain, and he said, "sahih isnad." Dhahabi said, "Amr was accused by Ibn Hibban, and Ibn Adi said he has objectionable narrations," and in Taqrib it says he is discarded. It has a hasan corroborating narration with Nasai in Kubra, no. 7577.
