The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade drinking from the mouths of waterskins by bending them over. After the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had issued this prohibition, a man got up at night, went to a waterskin, and bent its mouth to drink from it, and a snake came out at him from it.
حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا أبو عامر حدثنا زمعة بن صالح عن سلمة بن وهرام عن عكرمة
نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن اختناث الأسقية وإن رجلا بعد ما نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن ذلك قام من الليل إلى سقاء فاختنثه فخرجت عليه منه حية

[Sahih] Hakim narrated it in 4/140 from the hadith of Zama with this wording, no. 326, and said, "Sahih according to the criterion of Muslim," and Dhahabi agreed with him. Hakim also mentioned a corroborating witness for it from the hadith of Ikrima from Abu Hurairah with this wording, and said, "Sahih according to the criterion of Bukhari," and Dhahabi agreed with him. It is as they both said.
