The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would spend successive nights hungry, he and his family finding no supper, and most of their bread was barley bread.
حدثنا عبد الله بن معاوية الجمحي حدثنا ثابت بن يزيد عن هلال بن خباب عن عكرمة
كان رسول الله ﷺ يبيت الليالي المتتابعة طاويا وأهله لا يجدون العشاء وكان عامة خبزهم خبز الشعير
Sourcing, [its isnad is hasan] Tirmidhi narrated it, Zuhd, chapter on what has been said about the livelihood of the Prophet ﷺ and his family, hadith 2360, from Abdullah bin Muawiya through this route, and he said, this is a hasan sahih hadith.
