Sourcing, its chain is daif. Abu Dawud reported it in the Book of Foods, chapter on gathering together for food, hadith 3764, from Walid's narration, as previously mentioned in hadith 255, and the chain of "hearing" was not stated explicitly throughout. Also, Harb bin Wahshi was not declared trustworthy by anyone except Ibn Hibban, and Bazzar said he was unknown. The hadith has daif corroborating narrations, among them the following hadith, and the hadith of Ibn Jurayj, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, who attributed it to the Prophet, "The food most beloved to Allah is that over which the most hands are gathered." Abu Yaala reported it, 39/4, hadith 2045, and its chain is daif.
